"Brown Paper Packages.......

.....tied up with string".  As soon as I read that phrase, I hear Julie Andrews singing it as she did in the classic movie "Sound of Music".   Such a pretty song.

And she has such a lovely voice.  I can't carry a tune to save my life.  It's just not a gift I possess.

But I can stamp.

And can whip up a brown paper package for a birthday gift with a coordinating card.  So there's that.

I had a large pillow box that I used for a template.  I carefully undid the side glued seam, traced the opened up box on some craft colored cardstock, scored it in the appropriate places and used red line tape to adhere it back into a pillow box.  Before adding the tape, I stamped a swirl image all over.

A doily from Wilton with a black scalloped circle and the phrase typed out on the computer is the focal point.  Embellished with an off-white prima flower and pearl then tied up with some stretch white cording (string) :)

The card was clean and simple using the stamp set Build A Blossom and it's coordinating punch.  The black layer was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder.  Pearls for accents.

Pretty, pretty, pretty and easy to boot.  If I do say so myself.  Love little brown paper packages!  I think the recipient enjoyed it too.

Hope your week gets off to a great start!  Thanks for stopping by!

Tea Shoppe

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Popping in with a stamped card today.  When SU! came out with this stamp set in their current Occasions Mini Catalog, I knew I just had to have it.  I love tea and all the little things that go with it.  Pretty cups, pretty teapots, pretty dainty food to go with the tea.  I find it all very relaxing and soothing.   So of course I had to get this set and this is my first card with it.

I used the layout from the mini catalog that the stamp set is featured in but added my own elements to it.  Used River Rock as my base for the card, a piece of Everyday Enchantment designer series paper, a Wilton small doily, and a strip of whisper white that was punched using the Eyelet Border punch then run thru the crimper for texture.  The large teacup was stamped using lucky limeade ink onto very vanilla cardstock and cut out.  Popped up with dimensionals and little pearls embellish the florals on the cup.

I took a teabag and snipped off the end to remove the tea (otherwise it would have been too thick to have behind the cup) and stamped it with the little floral image in pool party ink.  Made a little tag for the teabag using the white peony image and colored it in with a blender pen in lucky limeade and pool party.  Seam binding in pool party color and a little tag with the "just for you" sentiment finishes it.

Adding this card to Our Creative Corner's  "How Green Is Your Spring!" challenge.  The challenge is to make any papercraft to show Spring in all it's color using Green as the main color.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful Saturday!

Give Thanks

A sweet fall card for today.  This was fun and easy to put together.  Saw a similar one on Splitcoaststampers as my inspiration.  Used SU's Day of Gratitude set.  Stamped the leaf in a variety of colors, formed a wreath with them over a background done with a Sizzix's Texture Impressions plate (can't remember it's name at the moment) on very vanilla cardstock, a few acorns adorning the wreath.  Used a Martha Stewart decorative edge punch on a small strip at the base and then stamped it with a sentiment from the Hand-Penned Holidays set.  Linen thread finishes  it off.   Next time, I think I will emboss the Give Thanks in gold.

Bountiful......

More green apples to share with you today.  This is another fairly simple card using the set Give Thanks.  Fairly straight forward; the fun is in coloring in the bucket of apples!

I have to admit though, this was a direct case from one of my favorite stampers:  Kelly Lunceford, otherwise known as Atomicbutterfly on Splitcoaststampers.com.  I first spied this card on SCS way back in 2007 and it's been sitting in my favorites since then.  Yesterday, while perusing my favorites for inspiration with this set, I ran across it so I cased it right away.   (If you don't know what case(ing) is, it's short for Copy And Share Everything.)

It came together fairly quickly and I like the simpleness of the card.  Kelly had some stitching done on hers, between the two pieces of designer papers, but I was a bit too lazy to get the sewing machine threaded with a proper color to match, so I omitted that part.  I managed to get two of cards done in less than 30 minutes.  Took longer to photograph it than to make them!  I really need some work in that department.  Looking to take a photography class sometime to help me take better pictures.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend so far!
Enjoy!
